4 Things You Need to Know When Launching a Brand

Branding

So, you’re starting a new business? How exciting! If you want to make an impact from day dot, then the best thing you can do is plan and execute an incredible brand launch.

A successful launch sets the stage for your future success. It generates buzz, captures interest and lays the foundation for customer loyalty. This might seem like a daunting task, but don’t worry, we’ve curated our top tips to ensure yours goes off without a hitch.

1. Understand your audience, competitors and goals

Launching a brand is all about exposure. You want to get in front of as many people as possible. But it must be the right people. This requires deep knowledge of who your ideal customers are as well as what matters to them. Go beyond basic demographics and find out their likes / dislikes, hobbies, values, fears and goals.

And while you’re at it, have a nose at your competitors too. Who are they targeting and how are they doing it? You might get some inspiration or even an idea on how to fill a lucrative gap.

You will also want to think about ways to measure your success. This could include engagement metrics on social media and the number of new subscribers that join your email list.

All this prep work makes the job of marketing much easier. You’ll thank yourself later, we promise!

2. Make a plan (with plenty of time!)

Focus on communicating what makes you different and the value you add to your customers’ lives. Consider how you can establish your presence and position in the market by standing out from the competition with a unique brand identity.

Create a launch schedule that avoids dodgy dates, like public holidays and weekends. Work backwards, breaking everything down and giving yourself mini-milestones to get there.

You should also “pre-launch” with teasers and promotions, so factor that into your plan. Remember, your brand launch is an important event and creative processes take time. Give your business baby the attention it deserves!

3. Brand everything in sight

Brand every visible aspect of your company in order to drive recognition. This includes your social media platforms, emails, website, signage and any marketing / sales collateral.

First impressions count, and the way your brand looks is the first thing people will notice when they’re introduced to your business. This is the foundational step before developing that “know, like and trust” factor.

4. Build the hype

You’re excited. We’re excited. But how does your target audience feel about your brand launch? Use the pre-launch period to build anticipation and a sense of mystery before it all “goes live”.

This could involve putting a countdown timer on your website, linking up with influencers, sharing “behind the scenes” videos on social media and sending special offers to anyone on your email list. You could even take pre-orders of your product to tap into that “new and shiny” buyer urgency.

The more effort you put into this, the more interest (and hopefully, sales!) you’ll bring in on the day. Just don’t give everything away at once. You must leave a little to the imagination.

It’s go-time!

It’s easy for imposter syndrome to set in when you feel like the new kid on the block, but launching a brand doesn’t have to be scary. With passion and a plan in place, you’re set up for success and entrepreneurial stardom – we know it!
