Colour powerhouse Pantone have announced their Colour of the Year for 2020, and it’s Classic Blue.
For 20 years, the Pantone Colour Institute have carefully selected their Colour of the Year – influencing design and development across multiple industries including graphic design, fashion, product design, home furnishings and print production.
Colour psychologists often describe blue as being calm, serene and reliable, which is probably why we see the colour used in a lot of corporate logos for companies within industries such as finance and tech.
We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE CLASSIC BLUE, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute
Following on from 2019’s Living Coral, Classic Blue has been chosen as it instils tranquillity and stability as we enter into a new decade. We anticipate seeing the colour show up across all creative industries over the next 12 months and can’t wait to see how it ends up being applied across various graphic design projects.
