A motivational message from the Director – Justine Mclaughlin
This month I have decided to focus on mindset, nobody else’s just mine. However I think it is really important to share decisions like this with others not only to highlight the trials and tribulations of business, the effect it has on the mindset, but to reiterate that we all go through these ups and downs during business growth and that you aren’t alone in your thinking.
No matter how much someones ‘success’ is portrayed through social media nobody knows the real struggles of each and everyones day to day lives. People are so quick to judge without knowledge, knowledge is power but If you don’t allow yourself time to gain the knowledge, understand a person and their journey, then why are we so quick to make an uneducated judgement.
This month I have decided to really focus on adapting my mindset. I’ll be the first to admit that this year has been one of the hardest mentally for me in business. Im lucky that I haven’t been effected too much through COVID, in fact, covid was the least of my problems however that’s a story for another blog. The biggest challenge this year has been to remain positive in adversity, to pick yourself and the entire team up to drive them forward, whilst looking for opportunities and building the business. We have all had to take risks, many people have failed but the biggest challenge of them all is to maintain a mindset to drive you through it and out the other end no matter what the outcome.
Success is not built on success. It’s built on failure. It’s built on frustration. Sometimes it’s built on catastrophe. – Sumner Redstone
So why are people so afraid to fail or even ashamed to say they have? Every single one of us has a purpose, there is no value in having anything else without understanding that you are a working progress every day. One of the most important lessons I learnt at an early age was that in the video link below. Self Love. Most people are running around empty with no sense of Self. It is important to understand that you are always a work in progress, know your value. When you understand the value of self love, the value of yourself. Believing in yourself before anyone or anything else.
‘Learn to forgive. Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past can be any different. Accept that it has happened, not that it’s ok, just accept that it’s happened and now what do you do about it.’
The lesson of surrounding yourself with people who add value to your life, people with the same mindset and who help you become a better version of yourself, with absolutely no exceptions. I love the line in this video that says, ‘ life is cyclic, what you are going through now has come to pass.’ Its not here for the long term, you have to let it go and learn to focus on developing yourself, moving on and allowing yourself to grow. The most important thing is what are you going to do about it.
If you want to live a happy and successful live you have to learn to harness your will. You need to know what your strong points are, what your weak points are and surround yourself with people in your life that fill the gaps you see as weakness and others where your strengths balance their weaknesses. Develop and grow with one another but be willing to be brutally honest no matter how difficult to hear. You may not want to hear something, that’s usually exactly what you need to hear.
I invite you to evaluate your strengths and your weaknesses, be brutally honest. Look at your friendship circle, your team and the people you spend most of your days with. Do these people support your weaknesses, do your strengths balance theirs? Make an effort to fill those gaps with people if they are there and see how your movements in life change when all these gaps are filled with the right people, removing those who don’t add value.
This month I will be sharing motivational videos that have made some sort of impact in my life in a bid to jumpstart my mindset and to give it the best chance to make the most of its ability, not just for me but for others I have in my inner circle.
Just take a few minutes every morning to watch these videos, see what you take from the video, see what differences you can make to your daily routine to change your mindset. It is only you who can write your story, your decisions, your actions, your mind. Make the conscious decision to change that today, if you do take the challenge of listening to one motivational video of a morning, tell me how you feel at the end of the month.
Heres to getting the best out of your mind. It’s only you who can do it.
